So, the white chest blaze of a fish eagle identified on a tree at the channel edge … two photographers briefed and poised to press the shutter release … Ray then prepared his fishy treat, tying it to a length of papyrus so it would float. With a high-pitched whistle he lobbed it upstream. The eagle flashed down in an elegant curve, extended talons whipping up the parcel. A splash on the water surface was the only remaining proof of its swoop.
