Our Top 4X4 Trips (e-Book)
$ 11.50
In short, this book is as much a nature book as it is a 4×4 travel journal. Our intention was to create something that fell between practical route planner, breezy outdoor magazine article and Kingsley Holgate travel diary (although we wouldn’t dare suggest that we’ve confronted a
fraction of the challenges he has!).
Please Note: This title, and the following title, are now combined in Our Ultimate 4×4 Trips Collection. However, both are still available individually as e-books.
The idea for this book arose when Keith, a longtime friend, used his very strong persuasive powers to nudge Hirsh into buying a 4×4 so that we could do some offroad exploring together. After an enormous amount of research (both houses were piled high with car magazines) and taking into account that we didn’t aspire to be intrepid ‘Rambo’ types, we settled on Land Rover’s Freelander 2. Labelled by 4×4 experts as a ‘soft-roader’, our two trusty chariots went on to prove their mettle on every type of terrain, in rain, wind or shine. We tackled Cederberg, Baviaanskloof and Die Hel; explored national parks from Tankwa Karoo, Camdeboo and Mountain Zebra to Hluhluwe-iMfolozi; climbed up (and down) Sani Pass and into the Drakensberg, then descended to iSimangaliso St Lucia and Sodwana; traversed Kgalagadi, and drove south to north across Namibia. We hope that you, eventually, will do the same too.
